Dororo (2019) Parents Guide: Is the series OK for kids?

Sexual content is mild. Prostitution is implied in a few instances, particularly with the character Mio who works to support orphaned children. Some male characters are shown shirtless, and historical underwear is depicted. No explicit sexual acts or nudity are shown.

Violence is severe and pervasive. Hyakkimaru constantly battles grotesque demons, leading to frequent sword fights with graphic depictions of dismemberment, impalement, and fountains of blood. Human characters also engage in brutal combat. A newborn is shown missing body parts, and a character later gouges out their own eyeballs, while another soldier is seen devouring a corpse to survive. The violence is often bloody and intense, with some instances of torture or cruelty.

Mild profanity is present, including occasional uses of "shit" and "damn." The language is generally fitting for the historical, intense setting, but not excessively vulgar.

The series is steeped in severe and intense themes. War, famine, poverty, abandonment, and death are central to nearly every episode.
