Flint Town (2018) Parents Guide: Is the series OK for kids?

There is no sexual content in this series. The documentary focus remains strictly on police operations, crime scenes, and the socio-economic crisis in Flint.

The season contains severe and graphic depictions of violence due to the nature of police work. Viewers see real crime scenes with blood, deceased bodies, and gunshot wounds. There are discussions and depictions of dog shootings by police (off-screen action). Intense situations involving armed standoffs and arrests occur.

Frequent and strong profanity is present throughout the season, including uncensored usages of 'f**k,' 'sh*t,' 'a**hole,' 'bitch,' 'd**n,' and racial slurs as part of natural dialogue from officers and community members. This is typical of documentary series depicting gritty real-life situations.

There are moderate depictions of drug and alcohol use. Officers are shown confiscating various drugs including marijuana, crack, meth, and cocaine. Alcohol consumption is seen casually at celebrations and in homes, some officers drink socially. A former meth lab is shown during a police investigation.

Severe themes include systemic poverty, racial inequality, community distrust of police, political corruption, the psychological impact of violent crime on officers, loss, and the Flint water crisis. The series explores complex social issues and the personal toll of working in a high-crime environment.
