Hitler and the Nazis: Evil on Trial (2024) Parents Guide: Is the series OK for kids?

Sexual content is not a focus. There are brief, non-explicit discussions of Hitler's relationship with Eva Braun and the Nazi's 'Lebensborn' eugenics and breeding program. No sexual acts or nudity are depicted.

Violence is pervasive, graphic, and extremely disturbing, forming the core of the series. It uses extensive, uncensored archival footage of war, bombings, shootings, executions, and the victims of the Holocaust. Viewers will see frequent and unflinching images of mass graves, emaciated concentration camp survivors, piles of corpses, and the results of medical experiments. The content is historically accurate but deeply unsettling and not suitable for most viewers.

Traditional profanity is infrequent and not a primary concern. However, the series is saturated with intensely hateful antisemitic rhetoric and Nazi propaganda, which is present in archival audio with subtitles and discussed at length by historians. This hate speech is ceaseless and central to the show's difficult content.

There is some archival footage showing soldiers and officials drinking alcohol and smoking tobacco. The most significant and disturbing substance-related content involves the use of cyanide capsules for suicide by Hitler and other high-ranking Nazis, which is discussed in detail in the final episode.

Thematic content is severe and relentless. The series is an uncompromising examination of genocide (the Holocaust), totalitarianism, fascism, war crimes, systemic racism (specifically antisemitism), eugenics, propaganda, psychological manipulation, and the nature of human cruelty. The final episode deals with themes of suicide and the pursuit of justice and accountability in the face of unimaginable atrocities.
