Sex and nudity in Safe

Sexual content is mild. Brief references to child sexual abuse are made as part of the plot. There is a short, blurry, distant sex scene, and suggestive photos of a woman's backside are briefly seen on a USB drive reviewed by police. A man makes a crude, veiled reference to 'doggy style' in front of his adult daughter.

Violence and gore in Safe

Violence includes the discovery of a dead body, close-ups of which are shown. A character is explicitly shown shooting himself in the head, with graphic depiction of blood. Another character is stabbed and bleeds out. Flashbacks show a person being held underwater and drowned. A man is hit over the head with a bottle, though no blood is seen.

Language in Safe

Strong language is frequent and pervasive, with multiple uses of the 'f-word' in almost every episode, sometimes in rapid succession or outbursts of frustration. Other profanity such as 'shit,' 'bitch,' and 'hell' are also used regularly by various characters.

Drugs, alcohol, and smoking in Safe

Teenagers are shown heavily consuming alcohol at a party, with drinking games and visible intoxication. Drugs (pills) are also introduced, bought, and sold by teenagers, and characters are depicted taking them, often with alcohol. Adult characters are frequently seen drinking alcohol at home or in social settings.

Mature themes in Safe

Pervasive themes of grief, betrayal, and missing persons drive the narrative, with Tom Delaney grappling with his wife's death and his daughter's disappearance. The series explores family secrets, cover-ups, and the impact of past traumas, including child abuse and accidental death. Characters deal with intense emotional distress, fear, and paranoia.
