Exploding Kittens (2024) Parents Guide: Is the series OK for kids?

Sexual content is present through suggestive dialogue and implied situations. There is a scene with blurred male nudity and implied sexual activity with moaning heard off-screen. Characters make suggestive comments, mention masturbation, and reference hentai. Kissing is shown, but there are no explicit sex scenes.

Violence is moderate to strong and often graphic, though presented in an animated, comedic context. Characters are incinerated, impaled with exposed guts, and a unicorn is graphically eviscerated and decapitated. Kids play violent video games featuring gunshots, stabbings, blood, and guts. Characters transform into monster-like states, and there are cartoonish fights and slapstick violence.

Language is strong and frequent. Characters use bleeped 'f-bombs' and 's-words,' along with uncensored milder profanity such as 'ass,' 'bitch,' and 'hell.' There are also multiple instances of characters giving the middle finger, which is not censored. Suggestive and raunchy language is common.

Substance use is mild, with background drinking at parties. There are implied instances of vaping by children and multiple explicit drug references in dialogue. However, no graphic drug use or intoxication is depicted.

Key themes include the constant struggle between good and evil, dysfunctional family dynamics, and existential questions about purpose and destiny. Characters grapple with regret, identity, and the consequences of their actions, often through absurd and comedic scenarios. There are also themes of parental struggles and sibling rivalry.
