Sex and nudity in Highway

Moderate, mostly non‑graphic sexual activity. Specific examples: a brief backyard pool sex scene with Jack and Jilly (no nudity shown), an implied oral sex scene under covers involving Pilot, and a shot of two boys looking at a foldout porn image in the opening. IMDb Parents Guide lists these as brief but explicit in dialogue and implication; sexual exploitation and references to a childhood brothel visit are mentioned but not shown.

Violence and gore in Highway

Strong but not graphically gory. There are multiple assaults — a confrontational gun threat from mobster Burt Miranda, a diner‑parking‑lot assault by a pimp, a bar brawl (a man is hit with an ice cooler and spits blood) and the climactic scene where Burt's goons break Jack's feet on‑screen. IMDb notes blood shown in the fight and an extended roughing up; the final foot‑breaking is intense and could be upsetting.

Language in Highway

Severe and frequent; the film contains dozens of F‑words and other strong profanity throughout (IMDb lists ~34 uses of 'fuck' plus other slurs). Coarse language appears in confrontations, fights and casual dialogue, and is a constant element of the film's tone.

Drugs, alcohol, and smoking in Highway

Moderate but pervasive drug use. Pilot and others smoke marijuana throughout, buy and use shrooms, ecstasy and blotter acid, and some characters snort pills; there is an ecstasy/rave sequence and an acid‑induced bad trip at the Seattle memorial. IMDb's Parents Guide documents attempted sales to a minor (unsuccessful) and repeated visible drug use.

Mature themes in Highway

Moderate and mature: exploitation/prostitution, pimp assault, mob retribution, grief and loss (the story culminates at a Kurt Cobain memorial), and an off‑screen childhood incident Jack mentions about being taken to a brothel. These are handled in a gritty, adult manner and include discussions of trauma and exploitation rather than sanitized resolutions.
