Sex and nudity in Yes Man

This category is the primary reason for the PG-13 rating. There is a running gag involving Carl's elderly neighbor, Tillie, which culminates in a scene where she performs oral sex on him (implied, not shown, played for laughs). There are two instances of brief, non-sexual rear nudity: Carl's backside is seen through a hospital gown, and a crowd is shown nude from behind in the final scene. There is also some kissing and crude dialogue about genitals and masturbation.

Violence and gore in Yes Man

Violence is infrequent and presented in a mild, comedic context. There is a brief bar fight where two punches are thrown and a man is kneed in the stomach. A character watches a very short, non-gory clip from the horror film 'Saw'. Near the end, two characters get into a car crash; the impact is shown, but the aftermath is non-graphic. A man also contemplates suicide by jumping from a building but is talked down.

Language in Yes Man

The film contains some strong language for its rating. There are two uses of the f-word. Other profanity includes multiple uses of "shit," "ass," "hell," and exclamatory uses of "Jesus" and "Christ." Slang terms like "dick," "douche," and "jack off" are also used.

Drugs, alcohol, and smoking in Yes Man

There is moderate depiction of alcohol use. Multiple scenes take place in bars where characters drink beer and cocktails. In one scene, friends are shown drinking heavily, with many empty glasses on their table, and one character is visibly intoxicated. Alcohol is also consumed socially at parties.

Mature themes in Yes Man

The central theme is about overcoming depression and negative thinking. A significant scene involves a character threatening suicide, which is treated in a serious-but-ultimately-comedic manner as Carl talks him down. The film also deals with themes of divorce, romantic breakup and reconciliation, and the consequences of impulsive behavior, such as Carl being profiled by the FBI as a potential terrorist.
