Generation War (2013) Parents Guide: Is the series OK for kids?

Sexual content is present and includes a depiction of a sexual assault (rape), though no explicit nudity is shown. There are also scenes of implied sexual activity, such as a couple having sex with thrusting and panting visible but without nudity, and a woman prostituting herself for survival. Full frontal male nudity is briefly shown in one instance.

Violence is severe and pervasive, featuring graphic depictions of war. This includes multiple battlefield deaths, close-range executions of civilians (including a child), a man bleeding to death from a throat wound, severe beatings, and graphic scenes in field hospitals showing injuries and operations. The violence is often sudden, brutal, and without glamor.

Frequent use of moderate to strong profanity occurs, particularly in battlefield scenes and moments of high stress. Terms like 'Scheiße' (shit), 'Arschloch' (asshole), and other expletives are common, consistent with the intense situations the characters face.

Severe themes include genocide, particularly the persecution and murder of Jewish people, the horrific psychological impact of war, moral corruption, betrayal, abandonment, and survival at all costs. The series explores themes of identity, guilt, complicity, and the loss of innocence in a devastating historical context.
