Philip K. Dick's Electric Dreams (2017) Parents Guide: Is the series OK for kids?

Sexual content varies by episode but can be moderate to strong. This includes implied sexual encounters, passionate kissing, and non-graphic nudity such as bare backs or buttocks in some scenes. There are also suggestive costumes, futuristic brothels, and references to sexual acts or relationships, often within the context of altered realities or artificial beings.

Violence is strong and at times graphic, including shootings with blood splatter, stabbings, and brutal hand-to-hand combat. Characters are frequently killed, sometimes in disturbing or unexpected ways. There are scenes of implied torture, explosions, and psychological violence that can be intense. The aftermath of violence, including dead bodies or injuries, is often shown.

Profanity is frequent and strong throughout the season. The f-word is used commonly, often in moments of stress, anger, or frustration, but also casually. Other strong language, including s-words and variations of 'ass,' 'bitch,' and 'damn,' are also used regularly by various characters across different episodes.

Substance use is present in several episodes. Characters are shown consuming alcohol casually at social gatherings or to cope with stress. Drugs are depicted in context of artificial reality or altered states of consciousness, sometimes with visual distortions reflecting their effects. There are no detailed depictions of addiction, but some use is clearly recreational or escapist.

Mature and disturbing themes are central to each episode. These include existential crises, questions of identity and reality, loss of loved ones, paranoia, government control, corporate exploitation, and the bleakness of dystopian futures. Episodes deal with grief, betrayal, social anxiety, and the dehumanizing effects of advanced technology. The underlying tone is often dark and unsettling.
