Metoda Markovič: Hojer (2024) Parents Guide: Is the series OK for kids?

The series deals with sexual assault as a key plot point, though the assaults themselves are not graphically shown. There are disturbing references and discussions of sexual violence. Some brief, non-explicit sexual situations occur, and a male character is briefly shown nude from the back in a non-sexual context during a medical examination.

This season contains strong and disturbing violence, central to the true-crime narrative. Graphic crime scene photos and forensic evidence of murder victims, including partially dismembered bodies, are shown. Characters are subjected to police interrogation that includes physical intimidation and implied violence. The perpetrator's violent acts are described in detail and depicted through their aftermath rather than directly on-screen, but the implications are severe.

Frequent use of strong language is heard throughout the season, including uncensored expletives and derogatory terms, particularly by police officers and suspects under duress. The language is often used to express frustration or aggression, contributing to the gritty atmosphere.

Characters are occasionally shown smoking cigarettes, typical of the period setting. There is also moderate consumption of alcohol in social settings, including a scene where characters are visibly inebriated. No illicit drug use is depicted.

Pervasive mature themes include murder, sexual assault, and the psychological impact of trauma on victims, their families, and investigators. The series explores the dark aspects of human nature, societal dysfunction under a totalitarian regime, and the justice system's struggle with complex criminal cases. Mental health issues and the loss of innocence are also significant themes.
