Avenue 5 (2020) Parents Guide: Is the series OK for kids?

Sexual content is primarily comedic and dialogue-based, but frequent and explicit. This includes discussions of masturbation, orgies, unconventional sexual acts, and implied sexual encounters. There are also visual gags and situations involving partial nudity or suggestive costuming, though no explicit sex scenes are shown. A character discusses a past pedophilia charge as a running gag.

Violence remains largely comedic and non-graphic but features prominently in discussions and implied actions. This includes threats of violence, characters being physically restrained or accidentally harmed, and the dark humor surrounding potential mass casualties. A character is accidentally shot, but the injury is not graphic. There are also references to cannibalism and dead bodies.

Strong language is pervasive throughout the season. The f-word is used frequently by multiple characters in nearly every episode, often in combinations with other expletives. Other strong language includes 'sh*t,' 'c*nt,' 'a**hole,' and various derogatory terms.

Major themes include societal collapse, moral ambiguity, existential dread, and political satire. The show explores the breakdown of law and order, the manipulation of the public through media, and the extreme lengths people will go to for survival or personal gain. Mental health struggles, feelings of isolation, and grief are also touched upon, though often with a comedic or cynical slant.
