Sex and nudity in Saved!

The central plot involves teen sexuality. In an early scene, Mary has sex with her boyfriend, Dean, in an attempt to change his sexual orientation; they are shown under blankets with no nudity. Other scenes include Dean looking at a men's muscle magazine while aroused, and later a character exposes her bra. Discussions of sex, virginity, and sexual orientation are frequent. A sex-ed class briefly shows a diagram of a naked man and woman without genitalia.

Violence and gore in Saved!

Violence is infrequent and largely satirical. In one scene, a character attempting a mock exorcism strikes another girl with a Bible. Another scene involves a character intentionally crashing her car into a large outdoor statue of Jesus, causing property damage but no injury. There are instances of bullying and pranks, but no graphic or serious harm is depicted.

Language in Saved!

Language is moderate for a PG-13 film. There is one use of the F-word, a use of "shit," and a use of "God damn." Other milder profanities are used occasionally. In one scene, graffiti of a vulgar word for female anatomy is briefly visible (spelled backwards). A character also gives the middle finger.

Drugs, alcohol, and smoking in Saved!

Two recurring teenage characters, Cassandra and Roland, are frequently shown smoking cigarettes. There are also some verbal references to alcohol consumption and abuse, though no on-screen drunkenness is shown.

Mature themes in Saved!

The film's primary content concerns are thematic. It deals heavily with teen pregnancy, the social consequences of which are a major plot driver. It explores themes of religious fundamentalism, intolerance, and hypocrisy within a Christian high school setting. Homophobia is a central theme, with a main character being sent to a "Christian treatment center" to be "cured" of being gay. Characters engage in intense bullying, shunning, and judgment based on religious dogma. A main character also experiences a crisis…
