Sex and nudity in Just Friends

Moderate sexual content and dialogue are central to the film's humor. A main character, Samantha, is overtly sexual; she wears revealing outfits (including a bra), aggressively French kisses a man, discusses masturbation with a teen, grabs a man's crotch, and twice states she is "horny." Other content includes a butt slap, posters of a woman with her breasts covered only by whipped cream, and a man's past as a womanizer being a key plot point. There is no nudity.

Violence and gore in Just Friends

Violence is frequent but entirely slapstick and played for laughs. Chris and his brother Mike engage in several destructive brawls inside their house. In a key scene, Chris gets hit in the mouth with a hockey puck, resulting in a bloody mouth and teeth being knocked out. Other comedic violence includes characters being tasered (once in the genitals), tackling, punching, and one character falling from a balcony after being tasered (she survives).

Language in Just Friends

Language is moderate and includes a significant amount of profanity for a PG-13 film. The IMDb parents guide notes uses of "shit" (7), "bitch" (7), "ass" (11), "hell" (7), "pussy" (3), and "dick" (2). Derogatory terms including "slut," "whore" and single uses of "faggot" and "retard" are also present. Religious exclamations like "Jesus Christ" and "Oh my God" are also used.

Drugs, alcohol, and smoking in Just Friends

Alcohol use is present in several scenes. The main character, Chris, gets drunk at a bar after a fight with Jamie. Another side character is portrayed as being drunk throughout his appearances. Several key scenes take place in a bar where characters drink beer and shots.

Mature themes in Just Friends

The film deals with themes of overcoming past trauma and insecurity, specifically related to bullying and body image (Chris's high school obesity). It explores the concept of the "friend zone" and the protagonist's journey from being a shallow womanizer to seeking a genuine connection. There are also moments of public humiliation and intense verbal fighting between main characters.
