Despicable Me 3 is officially rated PG. Bontent's independent parent guide recommends it for ages 6+.

Despicable Me 3 follows former villain Gru and his wife, Lucy, as they attempt to stop an 80s-obsessed criminal named Balthazar Bratt from terrorizing Hollywood. The film maintains the franchise's signature lighthearted tone but features recurring stylized cartoon action, mild physical comedy, and some…

Contains mild, suggestive humor, such as a brief moment where Gru is accidentally hit in the groin and a scene where he is shown naked, though his private areas are obscured by bubblegum.

The film features frequent, stylized cartoon violence including chase scenes, laser blasts from robots, dance-fighting, and slapstick physical comedy. All action is non-realistic and lacks blood or serious injury, qualifying for an animation severity discount.

Language is very mild, primarily consisting of creative 80s-inspired insults like 'son of a betamax' and rare, non-aggressive uses of terms like 'hell' and 'God'.

There is a brief scene taking place in a bar where characters are seen holding glasses, but no consumption of alcohol or drugs is depicted in a significant or problematic way.

The story deals with themes of abandonment, reconciliation, and the struggle to define one's identity within a family. Some moments may be emotionally poignant, particularly when characters feel betrayed or rejected.

Despicable Me 3 runs 90 minutes, directed by Kyle Balda, Pierre Coffin, released in 2017.
