Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs is officially rated PG. Bontent's independent parent guide recommends it for ages 6+.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs is an animated adventure centered on an inventor named Flint Lockwood who accidentally creates a weather machine that causes food to fall from the sky. The film carries a PG rating primarily for mild comedic violence, occasional cartoonish peril, and brief instances of crude humor…

The film contains minor, non-sexual instances of humor, including a shot of a character's clenched buttocks and statues made of Jell-O that show bare chests.

Violence is stylized and slapstick in nature, consistent with animated adventures. Characters engage in playful scuffles, and there are sequences involving giant food objects and creatures threatening the town, though no one is seriously injured.

Language is very mild, limited to a few instances of words like 'crap' and 'hellhole,' and one reference to a French expletive.

No substance use is present; wine glasses are briefly visible in a restaurant background, but no characters consume alcohol.

The story deals with mild themes of abandonment, the death of a parent, and a character feeling like an outcast, though these are handled with a light, optimistic touch.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs runs 90 minutes, directed by Christopher Miller, Phil Lord, released in 2009.
