Undone (2019) Parents Guide: Is the series OK for kids?

Sexual content is mild but present. One scene depicts a woman jokingly humping a clothed man in a humorous context. Alma is seen in a bra in two different scenes. There are a few strong sexual references, including a joke about a 'circle jerk'. A man fondles his girlfriend's breast through clothes. In one brief, surreal vision sequence, a woman is seen naked but covers herself, and children's heads largely obstruct the view.

Moderate violence occurs, primarily stemming from Alma's near-fatal car accident, which is depicted graphically. Her injuries and hospital stay are shown. There are also intense, chaotic visions and sequences of peril that, while not explicitly graphic, contribute to a sense of danger and psychological distress. Familial disputes can become verbally aggressive.

Profanity is frequent, including multiple uses of 'f**k,' 'sh*t,' 'bitch,' and 'ass.' The F-word is used quite often, sometimes in rapid succession, although not in every scene. A character spells out the word 'c**t' during a frustrated moment.

Alcohol is consistently consumed throughout the season, with characters occasionally getting drunk. Alma frequently drinks, sometimes to excess, and smokes a cigarette in one scene. There is a brief mention of a character having used mushrooms, and Alma alludes to having gotten high in high school.

The season deeply explores themes of grief, trauma, mental illness, and the subjectivity of reality. Alma struggles with the sudden death of her father and questions her own sanity as she experiences hallucinations and a distorted perception of time. The narrative delves into family secrets, emotional manipulation, and the psychological impact of loss, raising questions about truth and delusion.
