Maigret (2016) Parents Guide: Is the series OK for kids?

Sexual themes are present through discussions of prostitution and illicit affairs, though never graphically depicted. One episode features a showgirl from a 'seedy club' and mentions of sexual promiscuity. There is no nudity, though cleavage is sometimes visible in period costumes. A nude body is shown, but private parts are obscured or not focused on.

This season includes descriptions and discoveries of murder victims, sometimes with visible, though not overly graphic, wounds or disfigurement. The violence is usually implied or shown as aftermath rather than in-progress. One episode details a strangulation. The focus is on the investigation of violent crimes rather than the violence itself.

Mild profanity such as "damn" and "hell" occurs infrequently. The language is generally restrained, consistent with a period drama, with no strong or crude language present.

Frequent smoking of cigarettes and pipes is seen throughout, particularly by Maigret himself. Characters occasionally drink alcohol, usually wine or spirits in social settings or during investigations, but explicit intoxication is rare.

Mature themes of murder, betrayal, greed, and despair are central to the narratives. Cases involve psychological manipulation, suicide, and the exploitation of vulnerable individuals. The series explores the harsher realities of Parisian society, including poverty and moral corruption.
