Inu X Boku Secret Service (2012) Parents Guide: Is the series OK for kids?

Frequent mild to moderate sexual innuendo is present, primarily through the character Kagerou Shōkiin. He regularly makes objectifying and suggestive comments towards female characters, referring to them as "sadists" or "masochists." Scenes may feature characters in states of undress, such as a female character waking partially uncovered with cleavage shown, or implied nudity (side profile of a topless girl, though no explicit details are shown). Violence is mostly cartoonish and non-graphic due to the supernatural nature of the characters. This includes characters transforming into their yokai forms to fight or defend, which often involves energy blasts, enhanced physical combat, or minor property damage. There are fantasy battles with no blood or lasting injuries depicted. Some characters experience slapstick-style physical comedy.

Mild language is used occasionally, including terms like "damn," "hell," and "bitch." While not pervasive, these words appear in some dialogue.

Alcohol is occasionally consumed by adult characters in social settings. This includes characters drinking sake; however, intoxication is not a recurring plot point. No illicit drug use or tobacco is depicted.

The series explores themes of identity, particularly for characters grappling with their yokai heritage and human interactions. Ririchiyo struggles with social anxiety and her inability to communicate her true feelings, often causing misunderstandings. Abandonment is a theme for some characters, notably Soushi's past and Watanuki's insecurity regarding his father. The show also touches on themes of belonging and finding one's place.
