Halston (2021) Parents Guide: Is the series OK for kids?

Frequent explicit sexual content. There are numerous scenes depicting Halston with various partners, both male and female. These include full nudity (frontal male and rear female), simulated sex acts, strong sexual innuendo, and kissing. Group sexual encounters are also depicted. The show portrays a very open and promiscuous sexual atmosphere.

There is very limited violence. A character is verbally abusive towards Halston in one scene. A minor scuffle occurs at a party, but it is brief and non-graphic. The focus is not on physical conflict.

Frequent strong language is used throughout the season. Words like 'f**k,' 'sh*t,' and variations are common in dialogue, often in heated arguments or moments of stress. Mild crude language and terms for body parts are also present.

Frequent and pervasive depiction of drug and alcohol use. Halston regularly snorts cocaine, often from a prominent silver tray, and is frequently shown drinking heavily, sometimes to the point of intoxication. Other characters also engage in cocaine and alcohol use. Later in the season, Halston's addiction escalates, showing him dependent on cocaine and exhibiting withdrawal symptoms.

Consistent themes of addiction, creative control, betrayal, and professional downfall. Halston struggles with his identity, severe codependency, and the exploitation of his brand. The series explores the pressures of fame, the loneliness of success, and the destructive nature of unchecked ambition and substance abuse.
