El Presidente (2020) Parents Guide: Is the series OK for kids?

There are frequent sexual situations and discussions. These include passionate kissing, implied sexual encounters with thrusting motions and sounds but no explicit nudity, and characters seen in suggestive clothing or compromising positions. Some scenes feature partial nudity (back, cleavage, bare chest) in non-explicit contexts, and references to affairs and sexual relationships are common.

Mild violence occurs, primarily in the form of characters smashing objects out of anger, such as a woman destroying car parts in a junkyard. There are occasional physical altercations, but nothing graphic or involving significant gore. The threat of violence or intimidation is present in the criminal underworld setting.

Severe and pervasive strong language is present throughout the season, including frequent use of F-words, S-words, and other profanity in English and Spanish. Characters use expletives in anger, frustration, and casual conversation.

Frequent depictions of characters drinking alcohol heavily, often at parties, bars, or social gatherings, sometimes leading to intoxication. Smoking of cigarettes and cigars is common. There are instances of cocaine use, shown or strongly implied, as characters engaging in illicit activities.

The season explores mature themes such as corruption, betrayal, greed, manipulation, and the downfall of powerful figures. Characters deal with the legal ramifications of their criminal actions, including court proceedings and potential imprisonment. Themes of moral compromise, family disintegration under pressure, and personal despair are also prevalent.
