Sex and nudity in American Crime Story

Sexual content is moderate but explicit in its discussion and implication, rather than graphic depiction. There are verbal descriptions and strong allusions to sexual encounters between Monica Lewinsky and President Clinton, including discussions of phone sex and acts of intimacy. No explicit nudity is shown, but sexual relationships, sexual harassment claims, and the public shaming associated with them are central to the narrative and discussed in detail.

Violence and gore in American Crime Story

The series graphically depicts multiple murders committed by serial killer Andrew Cunanan. This includes shootings, beatings, and stabbings, with notable blood and gore, particularly after the fact. The murder of Gianni Versace opens the season with a gruesome head wound and attempts at resuscitation. Other victims are shown with fatal injuries. Emotional and psychological violence is also prevalent as characters cope with abuse, loss, and the terror of being hunted.

Language in American Crime Story

Strong language is consistently present throughout the season, including frequent use of 'f**k,' 'sh*t,' and other expletives. Characters use profanity to express anger, frustration, and shock, particularly during stressful confrontations or private emotional outbursts. The language reflects the adult nature of the subject matter and the intensity of the situations depicted.

Mature themes in American Crime Story

Major themes include abuse of power, political scandal, betrayal, public humiliation, media exploitation, and the devastating impact of such events on individual lives, particularly for women. The series deeply explores the themes of sexism, victim-blaming, and the complex ethical dilemmas faced by all parties involved, including the challenges of identity and self-perception under intense public scrutiny. Mental health struggles, particularly for Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp, are also a recurring theme.
