Substances Intense 10/10
Language Moderate 4/10
Sex/Nudity Strong 6/10
Violence/Gore Intense 10/10
Mature Themes Intense 10/10

Sex and nudity in Babylon 5

Sexual content is minimal and implied. There are instances of passionate kissing between characters, and mild innuendo is present in some dialogue. No nudity or explicit sexual acts are shown. A seedy strip club is seen in background, but the alien and human performers are never fully nude and not central to the plot.

Violence and gore in Babylon 5

Violence is significantly more prominent this season due to a civil war and direct conflict with the Shadows. This includes frequent large-scale space battles with ships exploding, intense energy weapon combat, and hand-to-hand fights. Character deaths are common, sometimes bloody but not overly graphic, with focus on the aftermath and emotional impact. Torture is implied in one episode, and there are scenes of characters being wounded and in peril.

Language in Babylon 5

Mild profanity such as "damn" and "hell" is occasionally used by characters, particularly during stressful or emotional scenes. There are no instances of strong language, and the dialogue remains fitting for mainstream television.

Drugs, alcohol, and smoking in Babylon 5

Alcohol use, primarily social drinking in bars or officers' quarters, continues to be present but not glorified. There is one significant plotline involving an illegal drug called "Dust" which grants temporary telepathic abilities, with depictions of addiction and its negative effects. Franklin's struggle with stims use also becomes a recurring, prominent theme.

Mature themes in Babylon 5

Mature themes are central, including political rebellion, war, imperialism, genocide, and the struggle against oppression. Characters grapple with severe moral dilemmas, betrayal, and the consequences of their choices. Personal struggles with addiction, grief, and mental health are also explored, particularly through Franklin's storyline and a character dealing with recovered memories of trauma. The existential threat posed by the Shadows and the consequences of their actions are ongoing and intense.
