Sex and nudity in The Sea Inside

Mild and non-explicit. Includes a few kissing/romantic moments (Ramón imagining kissing Julia), a brief scene where a man reaches into a woman’s blouse while kissing, a woman seen bathing from behind, and a roadside sight of dogs mating — suggestive but no explicit nudity.

Violence and gore in The Sea Inside

Moderate but non-graphic. The film contains several flashbacks showing Ramón's diving accident (he breaks his neck) and a few brief moments of physical contact or slapping during heated arguments. There is no graphic gore; the emphasis is on consequence and emotional impact rather than blood or explicit injury.

Language in The Sea Inside

Light, occasional coarse language. Characters use mild profanities and insults in heated conversations (examples reported include words like "asshole"); explicit strong slurs are not a feature of the script.

Drugs, alcohol, and smoking in The Sea Inside

Light, incidental substance use. Brief scenes show people smoking and a bar interior (little to no on-screen drinking). The film’s most significant ingestion (cyanide) is part of the suicide/euthanasia plot and is discussed primarily under themes.

Mature themes in The Sea Inside

Strong and central. The film is an extended, emotional meditation on paralysis, dignity, terminal wishes, and assisted suicide — Ramón's decision to die is shown in detail, including his legal battle, Julia's stroke and talk of suicide, and Ramón recording and ingesting poison. These are treated seriously and candidly and may be distressing to viewers.
