Sex and nudity in Like Crazy

Mild but explicit in places: there is a short make-out scene where a man briefly caresses a woman's covered breast and we later see her bare breasts for a few seconds; a man urinates from a balcony and a penis is briefly visible end-on. The film also shows a DVD case labelled "Anal Vision 3D," women mistaken for prostitutes, a woman stripped to bra and panties who swims on the beach, and a quick shot of panties on a gurney. Nothing is prolonged or explicit; scenes are brief and usually non-erotic in tone.

Violence and gore in Like Crazy

Generally mild and non-graphic. Incidents include a moped striking a pedestrian with a small head wound, a bottle smashed over someone's head with a little blood, brief scuffles and pushing, and one moment where a character bangs her head on glass leaving a small swelling. There are also sequences of staff using force or restraints in psychiatric facilities; these are unsettling but not gory.

Language in Like Crazy

Mild overall: a few uses of "f*ck," "sh*t," and "damn," occasional insults like "bitch/slut/ass," and one tirade containing homophobic slurs. A single finger gesture is flashed once. Language is intermittent rather than pervasive.

Drugs, alcohol, and smoking in Like Crazy

Moderate presence: characters frequently smoke cigarettes and drink wine or beer socially. Psychiatric medications are named, used and sometimes abused; there are scenes of pills being traded and morphine being stolen. Substance use is shown realistically and plays into characters' instability.

Mature themes in Like Crazy

Moderate and emotionally intense: the film centrally depicts serious mental illness, institutionalization, loss of parental rights and the aftermath of a suicide/murder attempt (shown in flashback). Restraint of patients and the legal/emotional fallout of custody loss recur and can be upsetting; the tone is noisy and stressful at times. These themes are a core part of the story and may be disturbing for vulnerable viewers.
