Sex and nudity in Derailed

Light and brief. There is implied sexual/romantic tension between Jacques and Galina (they pose as a couple and share intimate moments) and a scene where Jacques's wife Madeleine misunderstands them and storms off; no nudity or explicit sex shown.

Violence and gore in Derailed

Strong and frequent throughout. The hijackers shoot and kill train staff, there are multiple hand-to-hand fights (Jacques vs. henchmen), a conductor is shot, a helicopter crashes into a tunnel and a later train collision shears a car off; deaths are depicted but not graphically gory. The film culminates in a violent showdown in which an antagonist is killed and explosive destruction threatens passengers.

Language in Derailed

Frequent strong profanity, including repeated use of harsh expletives by villains and during heated confrontations; threats and shouted insults occur during the hijack and rescue scenes. Expect adult-level language throughout the takeover and climactic sequences.

Drugs, alcohol, and smoking in Derailed

Minor and non-central. There are brief shots of adults drinking in the train's bar car early on; later passengers are given medical treatment in quarantine. No on-screen illegal drug use or sexualized substance scenes.

Mature themes in Derailed

Strong, mature themes: terrorism, biological weapons/contagion (smallpox vials), quarantine procedures, family separation and the threat to children, and betrayal by an apparent ally. The accidental release of a virus and the decision to destroy infrastructure to stop it create sustained moral/ethical tension and emotional stakes.
