Sex and nudity in Beauty and the Beast

Content in this category is very light. Belle and the Prince share a kiss near the end of the film. Gaston's persistent and unwanted romantic pursuit of Belle could be interpreted as a form of harassment. There is also a brief, blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment where LeFou is seen dancing with another man in the final ballroom scene.

Violence and gore in Beauty and the Beast

The film contains moderate action violence and peril. There are two intense sequences where characters are attacked by a pack of CGI wolves, resulting in growling, lunging, and visible but not gory injuries to the Beast. The climax features a large-scale battle between villagers and enchanted objects, which is mostly chaotic and slapstick. More intensely, Gaston hunts the Beast, shoots him twice with a pistol, and Gaston himself falls to his death from a collapsing bridge (the impact is not shown).

Language in Beauty and the Beast

Language is almost non-existent. In a moment of anger, the Beast shouts at Belle that if she had touched the enchanted rose, she would have "Damned them all." This is the singular use of any noteworthy profanity.

Drugs, alcohol, and smoking in Beauty and the Beast

Substance use is brief and incidental. During the musical number "Gaston," villagers are shown drinking mugs of beer in a tavern. Wine is also shown being served at the Prince's ball at the beginning of the movie.

Mature themes in Beauty and the Beast

The film explores several mature themes that may be upsetting for children. The central plot involves Belle being held as a prisoner in the Beast's castle. A flashback reveals that Belle's mother died of the bubonic plague, a scene that is emotionally sad. The themes of mob mentality and prejudice are prominent when Gaston incites the villagers to attack the Beast. The finale includes the on-screen death of the Beast and the emotional transformation of the servants into inanimate objects, both of which are intense…
