Sex and nudity in 9

None. This film is entirely free of sexual content, nudity, or innuendo.

Violence and gore in 9

Moderate to strong. Though it contains no blood or gore as all characters are robots and stitched dolls, the film is filled with intense action and violence. Creatures are stabbed, impaled, beheaded, and destroyed in explosions. Monster designs are frightening, particularly the skeletal Cat Beast and venomous Seamstress, which lead to several jump scares and chase sequences. The action is constant and often perilous for the main characters.

Language in 9

None. No profanity is used in the film.

Drugs, alcohol, and smoking in 9

Very mild and symbolic. In one brief scene, the character 8 holds a magnet to his head and groans with pleasure. This is briefly implied to be a way of getting 'high' or achieving a sensation, but it is not overt and is played for comedic effect. No other substance use is present.

Mature themes in 9

Strong and pervasive. The film is set in a bleak, post-apocalyptic world with visible human skeletons at the start. The central recurring theme is death and the loss of life, depicted as a machine violently sucking the souls out of the stitchpunk characters. This happens to multiple main characters on screen in a disturbing fashion, with their bodies left limp and lifeless. Themes of sacrifice, war, genocide, and the morality of creating artificial intelligence are central to the plot.
