Sex and nudity in The Tourist

Sexual content is mild. Elise and Frank share a few passionate kisses, one of which occurs in a dream sequence. In one scene, police surveillance operators zoom in on Elise's clothed rear end and make remarks about whether she is wearing underwear. A scene implies a character undresses, but her dress simply drops to the floor and no nudity is shown.

Violence and gore in The Tourist

Violence is moderate and consistent with the action-thriller genre. There are multiple chase scenes on foot and by boat, some of which involve gunfire. Frank is hunted by mobsters across rooftops. A man is strangled to death in one intense scene. In the climax, police snipers shoot and kill several antagonists, with some bloody impacts briefly visible.

Language in The Tourist

Language includes brief strong profanity, which is the primary reason for the PG-13 rating. The F-word is used twice. Other language includes a few uses of "shit," "damn," and "hell," along with one instance of "arsehole."

Drugs, alcohol, and smoking in The Tourist

Substance use is light and social. Characters are frequently seen drinking wine or champagne in restaurants, on a train, and at a formal ball. One character is seen using an electronic cigarette throughout the film and later lights a real cigarette.

Mature themes in The Tourist

Thematic content centers on deception, mistaken identity, and life-threatening peril. Frank is an ordinary man who is deliberately placed in danger, and Elise's true motives and identity are a central mystery. A key scene involves Elise being held hostage with a knife to her throat, and she is threatened with torture.
