Slayers Return (1996) Parents Guide: Is the movie OK for kids?
Age Rating, Sex, Violence & Language

Rated NR • 1996 • 1h 40m
Slayers Return is a 60-minute unrated comic fantasy anime, the second Slayers film, and it plays as broad comedy rather than serious adventure. The sorceresses Lina Inverse and Naga the Serpent are hired by the villagers of Biaz to drive off the world-domination-minded Zein organisation, mostly because they have heard there is Elven treasure buried underneath, and the job escalates into golems, an ancient Elven weapon and a plot to… Sign up for the full guide

Sex and nudity in Slayers Return
No sex or explicit content, but persistent light fanservice in the series style. Naga the Serpent wears an extremely revealing outfit throughout and her figure is used repeatedly as a visual gag, and there is comic innuendo in the bickering between her and Lina. Nothing goes beyond suggestive costume design and jokes.
Violence and gore in Slayers Return
Frequent but entirely comic and stylised. Lina and Naga level buildings with magic, fight golems and Zein soldiers, and the film treats destruction as a punchline - characters are flung about and blown up without blood, injury or lasting consequence. The animation is exaggerated cartoon fantasy throughout, so the impact sits well below what the same events would carry in live action. The threat of world destruction in the final act raises the stakes without changing the register.
Language in Slayers Return
Mild. Comic insults and exclamations between Lina and Naga, with nothing stronger documented in the standard releases.
Drugs, alcohol, and smoking in Slayers Return
Nothing of note is documented in this title.
Mature themes in Slayers Return
Light. The villagers of Biaz are shown as forced labour under the Zein organisation, which gives the comedy a thin backdrop of oppression, and the finale involves a plan to destroy the world. Saleena is caught up in events as an innocent bystander. None of it is developed with any weight - the film's interest is in the comedy and the spectacle.
