Sex and nudity in Pina

Content is artistic and sensual rather than sexual. In several dance numbers, female performers wear thin, sheer slips where the outlines of their breasts are visible. In one brief scene, a dancer is seen topless from the back and side, showing her bare back and the side of her breast. Another scene involves a woman being handled and touched all over by a group of men, which is non-sexual but thematically intense.

Violence and gore in Pina

There is no conventional violence or gore. Some of the modern dance pieces include forceful, aggressive movements, such as dancers pushing each other or throwing themselves against walls. These moments are clearly part of the choreography and are expressive and stylized, not intended to depict brutal fights.

Language in Pina

Language is not a concern. The film contains no profanity or strong language in either its minimal dialogue or the accompanying song lyrics.

Drugs, alcohol, and smoking in Pina

Substance use is very mild. One of the dancers is shown briefly smoking a cigarette during an interview segment. The lyrics of a background song also contain a passing, non-descriptive reference to cannabis.

Mature themes in Pina

The film explores complex themes of love, loneliness, desire, fear, and human connection through the medium of dance. The most intense thematic content is in the performance of "The Rite of Spring," which depicts a primal ritual sacrifice. This sequence involves mob dynamics, terror, and societal pressure, as a lone woman is chosen and then aggressively surrounded by the group.
