Sex and nudity in Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues
The film features pervasive crude sexual humor, including frequent double entendres and jokes regarding anatomy and intimacy. One notable scene involves a romantic encounter between Ron and Linda Jackson that includes aggressive physical comedy and suggestive dialogue. While there is no graphic nudity, the sexual situations are consistent with a mature PG-13 rating.
Violence and gore in Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues
The climax features an absurdist, large-scale battle between competing news teams involving various melee weapons and over-the-top weaponry. Characters are impaled, maimed, or set on fire in a comedic and unrealistic fashion with minimal realistic gore. This sequence represents a significant step up in intensity from the first film, though the tone remains strictly slapstick.
Language in Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues
Strong profanity is used frequently throughout the film, exceeding the frequency of the first installment. The dialogue contains multiple uses of 's-word,' 'a**hole,' and various crude terms for genitalia and sexual acts. While the 'f-word' is used sparingly, the general verbal landscape is consistently coarse and geared toward adults.
Drugs, alcohol, and smoking in Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues
There is no significant use of alcohol, tobacco, or illegal narcotics shown in this film. Characters may be seen in settings where social drinking occurs, but substance use is not a narrative focus or a notable element of the comedy. The absence of drug-related content makes the film more accessible to younger teens within its PG-13 demographic.
Mature themes in Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues
The sequel is explicit about its satirical target — Ron Burgundy's discovery that you get better ratings by telling people what they want to hear rather than the truth is the film's entire argument about cable news.
